Leaded Brass

Lead makes brass easier to work with and stronger, and it also makes it less likely to rust. Adding lead also seals shrinkage pores to make the pressure tight. Brasses can have as much as 3.5% lead in them. They are classified as low, medium, or high-leaded. You can use leaded brass to make screws, valves, fittings, bearings, special fasteners, architectural hardware, and machine parts that can be used for many things.
